You may ask yourself- well, how did I get here?
Welcome to my Substack. My name is Gabrielle Shylo, and I have lived many lives in under three decades. My current focus of work is teaching you ways to connect to your Higher Self- but I didn’t just blossom out of a rose spewing golden wisdom. I have lived and died many times, like a masochistic phoenix. The tendency to self-destruct ran (runs?) strong with this one, along with my leonine desire to lay it all out there for everyone to witness.
1. The purpose of this Substack
My work encompasses communicating with the many parts of ourselves that make us whole. While that includes the bright, shiny aspect known as your Higher Self, it also includes your Inner Child, your Inner Elder, your Shadow, and more.
One of the methods to integrating all of these parts into your whole present self is to familiarize yourself with what makes you unique, and for a lot of us, that looks like skeletons in the closet.
I’ve experienced so many timeline shifts that it seems like who I have been in the not-so-distant past is a completely different character. And maybe she is?
She had a different name. She approached life differently. Some would say she was more fun than I am now. (You’ll find I interchange verb tenses sometimes- the more I learn about the space-time continuum, the harder time I have with remaining linear in the past, present, and future).
The truth is, the person I was in the past directly influenced who I am now, even if it was a very different life than I live now. And she was CRAZY! The stories I have to tell about my past are wild, scandalous, heartbreaking, cringe-worthy, confusing, and liberated.
However, this Substack won’t be just all tales of past wildness. It will also be a place to discuss transformation, shapeshifting, and exploring the self in fearless ways. Like, true bravery, the kind that makes us feel stupid in public even though we are gaining badass points with every move.
I dare myself to unleash the truth. It’s characteristic of my tendency to be a masochistic phoenix after all.
2. What sort of reader will be interested in my material?
To make it out of this Substack alive, you’re going to have to be open-minded. A lot of my past involves sex, drugs, and violence. To really give you the full scope of what I’ve been through, it will require truly radical candor on my part.
You may end up finding me insufferable after reading about who I was, or you may be one of those voyeurs who really loves a good train wreck. I don’t care which camp you find yourself in, or at least I have to pretend that I don’t.
I love a good story. Like a legitimately unique and interesting story. Not the Nicholas Sparks version, but the kind you tell to a random stranger while stranded at a bus stop, sharing your last cigarette, knowing you will never see that person again.
If you like seeing connections of where someone has been to how they got to where they are now, this is the right place for you too. I will be weaving tales of my old and new lives together to paint a picture of just how dynamic we can be, and how every minute of your life has amounted to where you are now.
3. What you can expect
I promise to be honest, even if my memory is not 100% reliable. I will recount what I remember to be true, and if necessary, will fill in the blanks with what I believed to be true about the situation. If I was blacked out for a portion of the story, then I will just say so.
I will be offering up my *true* stories as both free and paid content. The really shockingly sordid ones will be part of the paid membership, and this is to protect the legitimacy of my work.
I’m not just here to self-flagellate and put myself on display like a circus. This Substack aims to give life to my experiences and honor what I’ve been through by releasing them to the world.
I have a lot of material to deliver, however, I am a mother of two, work a full-time job, and I am a college student. I intend to post biweekly and go from there.
4. And finally, why is this Substack titled Lilith in Scorpio?
If you are a fan of astrology like I am, you will find that you are always discovering new aspects of your natal chart. One day I got a reading done by Myrto Daskaloudi (@moonsofaphrodite on Instagram) and she pointed out my 9th House stellium, which includes my Pluto in Scorpio, midheaven in Sagittarius, and my Black Moon Lilith in Scorpio.
For those unfamiliar with these aspects of astrology, a 9th House stellium marks a life-long learner and someone with an uncommon life philosophy. That characteristic, combined with Scorpio and Sagittarius influences, means that I like to take risks and adventure down into the murky depths.
For those with Lilith in Scorpio, nothing is taboo. We like to express our raw, true selves, or we may be terrified of those parts of ourselves. Or maybe a little bit of both. The fear of these parts of ourselves is called the Shadow (see my next post).
Us Lilith in Scorpio folks have an intense fascination with or aversion to sex or tend to volley back and forth. In fact, we can never make up our minds, as we are constantly burning ourselves to the ground and rising out of the ashes (like the aforementioned Masochistic Phoenix).
Hopefully, you see where I’m going with this. This Substack is a place to air out my dirty laundry with the goal of inspiring you to live your wildest life down to every last drop. I want to see you throwing yourselves to the wolves, only to be adopted by the Pack Mother and move into a cave with all your new wolf siblings.
So welcome to the ride. I’m so excited to share my thoughts and memories with you.
